This little SFS posse here in
Hong Kong has been putting on shows for awhile now and we keep
coming back wondering how the fuck we're SO lucky to be putting on
shows for bands that we've spent years looking up to, years getting
into the music of, years being inspired by their lyrics and
actions...to then meet them face to face as they come out of an
airport or a train station and talk to them like they're just
friends who live down the street is in-fucking-sane!!! :-)
We just finished up 2
insane bands in a week here in HK...Bane and Shai Hulud...both
hugely influential bands in their own right. For those who don't
know these bands or were too busy to come attend those shows, all we
can say here safely and humbly - YOU MISSED THE FUCK OUT!!!
Hehehehehe...
Bane and Shai Hulud have
both been etched in our hearts forever...those bands are full of
members that are the coolest people on earth! All down to earth and
just lucky enough to be playing the music they want to play and tour
the world with it...
Dreams for all of us...
Anyway...this summer we've
got an European hardcore/metal band called Born From Pain coming to
town! We're psyched! These dudes will probably be as close to having
Hatebreed playing in HK ever! hahahaha...
As always we have local bands opening up so we hope to see you all

Oh my god...it's happening!!! The 90's era of hardcore had many
legendary hardcore bands like Strife, Earth Crisis, Snapcase, Ten
Yard Fight, the list goes on and on...one of the only bands from
that era that NEVER stopped was BANE!!! They're still playing since
1994...since 1994 man!!! They have not given up and they're now
bringing their brand of hardcore that has influenced thousands all
over the world to
Asia...我们真想不到一个那么有影响力的硬核乐队终于会来香港和亚洲巡演！！！在九十年代的硬核来说有很多挺有影响力的乐队 - 比方说:
Strife, Earth Crisis, Snapcase, Ensign, Hatebreed, Ten Yard Fight,
等等。。。但是BANE就是其中一个乐队从来没有听过！他们就是九四年到现在还没有听过！ We are so lucky to be organizing their show in Hong Kong and to
finally meet these dudes face to face...我们真幸运是搞他们本地的演出。。。终于可以见面这个乐队！ This is going to be a very special show for hardcore in Hong
Kong. We all know that "hardcore" has pretty much died these past
few years in Hong Kong. There is no resemblance of the early days.
Of course, people grow up and move on with their lives. Lots of
people are just too busy to come back and support this little thing
that they were once a part of. No one is angry about it - we all
have lives to lead.
对本地香港的硬核情况来说这一晚是挺特别。。。我们大家都知道本地硬核多年前已经死了。。。现在看完全没有零三/零四年的感觉和力量。当然，人要长大，然后大家需要生活

一开始工作很少有时间可以出来参加硬核这个世界，或者没有空过来看演出。。。我们大家可以明白这样的情况。。。但是我们真希望以前挺热情硬核的支持者会为了硬核的将来过来参加这一场演出！！！我们大家硬核的支持者都明白重型音乐或者metalcore的音乐风格是比较多人支持的（全世界都是这样）所以一对比较传统的应该没有那么强的吸引力。。。我们也不会觉得挺多人回来参加这个演出。但是我们真希望有些人会有点点兴趣看看和听和有兴趣来感受到真真正正硬核的风格。。。我们特意放了价格很低因为我们就希望这样可以吸引多些人来参加
- 虽然这种音乐风格可能不是他们杯茶。。。
But I do hope
that those who once supported hardcore in Hong Kong will come back
for this special show...BANE is a powerful LIVE band...they are not
metal or metalcore...they are just pure hardcore. We know that metal
and metalcore is much more popular in Hong Kong (that is true all
over the world too) so we are not expecting a BIG crowd for Bane.
But we do hope that people will be interested in coming to this show
just to see what the big deal is about HARDCORE...This is why we
chose to charge only $100HKD. With hopefully this cheaper price more
people will at least TRY to check out the show - even if "hardcore"
is really not their cup of tea...
We also want to say that we are organizing this show at this new bar
called Rock School in Hong Kong for many reasons. One of the many
reasons is because the owner of this bar - Greg - has put his heart
and soul in trying to provide Hong Kong bands with a great venue to
perform in. He is an older gentleman who is doing this for the love
of music - it's that simple. There is no high school drama with him,
and definitely no bullshit cliques that anyone has to worry about.
When you meet him, chances are he will give you a HUG before shaking
your hand. That is the kind of man he is. We have very few places we
can play in Hong Kong, we have even fewer bars that we can play in.
We know how hard it is to provide a place for bands in Hong Kong
because there is NO market for it...so we hope that all of us
involved with bands and music in Hong Kong can come down to this bar
and support it. 最后我們想說 -
我么選擇了在一個新開的本地酒吧搞這個演出！這個酒吧叫Rock
School！這里的老板給我們了十分多的希望！他叫Greg！他為了香港搖滾的情況放了很多心在這個酒吧到。。。對我們比較重型音樂的本地樂隊來說我們有很少地方可以表演
- 酒吧是更加少，一家酒吧有那么厲害的設備是更加少！所以我們全荔枝王的成員，和Shepherds the
Weak的成員和其他”由零開始“的人員也非常感激和支持這位人！！！

I think I can easily speak for the entire SFS
crew (Mike, Glenn, Richie, Ho, Brian, JR, Terence, Heng, Franco,
Chai, Mushie, Sue, Matt...) that Misery Signals was the GREATEST
band that we have put on a show for. I cannot even begin to describe
how incredible they were LIVE. For me personally, I've been
listening to them since '04 and I never imagined back then that I
would actually be involved in putting on a show for them. But they
were incredible and I think everyone that was at the show must've
felt the same way...
Thanks to everyone for coming out and supporting this show! I hope
you had a great time! We did extra work on lighting and sound so
hopefully you guys enjoyed all that.
Next SFS SHOW!
The next show is Have Heart (US hardcore) LIVE in Hong Kong! The
opening bands will be King Ly Chee and Bridged (formerly called
Contact Chord). King Ly Chee will actually play with Have Heart 2
nights in a row. Have Heart is playing in Guangzhou on May 9 and
King Ly Chee will go open that show. Then Have Heart and King Ly
Chee will travel down to Hong Kong to play the Hong Kong show at the
Warehouse.

It is late and about 3am after the Parkway Drive show... ONE WORD - UN-FUCKING-BELIEVABLE!!!
This was the largest turnout we have EVER had for an SFS
show...it was incredible... Of course the reason that happened was because Parkway Drive is
a HUGE band that has LOTS AND LOTS of supporters in Hong Kong! :-)
Thanks for coming to the show everyone! Thanks for supporting
Parkway Drive who are a bunch of the coolest band members ever! You
have helped them continue to live their dreams by playing music
every night. Actually - that's my dream too so if you want to
support me on this that would be much appreciated! hehehehe...

Sorry...the bad news first...King Ly Chee had to cancel their
upcoming China tour which they were super excited about. One of
their members can no longer get the days off. It sucks. Members of
King Ly Chee are pissed OFF beyond belief... The good news...we've got a new show coming up that we're super
excited about!!! The band Conquest for Death from the US are going
to come by HK to play one show as part of their Australia/Asian
tour... Please check out the flyer for more information! Two brand new
bands are going to be playing at the show: One Last Fall and Contact
Chord...both bands have played shows but we're excited that they've
agreed to play at a show that we organized!!!

Wei...so King Ly Chee is in the midst of confirming a China
tour! This is their first tour of China since 2000!!! THAT'S 8 YEARS
AGO!!! Needless to say they're very excited...
The tour is brought to them by the great people at Hot Pot Music
- one of China's newest powerhouse labels and tour organizers! Run,
owned and managed by one of the best dudes in China - Paul...
Okay - so we have a show on November 8 that we're really excited
about! It's for a US punk/thrash band called Conquest of Death and
will be held at the Warehouse! The show will be supported by: 218,
One Last Will and Contact Chord! 2 of these bands are brand new
bands so please come out and support if you can!!! Contact Chord is
a brand new hardcore band featuring members who are only 14 years
old!!! :-) Should be exciting!!!
Shepherds the Weak recently conducted an interview with a

history of your favorite HK-based-Filipino-metal heroes! I WANT MY

October 25, 2007: Dude...we're SO sorry!!! The website has been
down and you can TOTALLY point all blame to the moron behind King Ly
Chee and this website - yes, that's Riz. Because he (meaning me -
I'm the one typing this) forgot to pay for re-registering the domain
name "startfromscratchrecords.com" we ended up losing the name! So
some bastard online took our name and is now holding it. So what are
we going to do? We found out that this name:
"www.startfromscratchrecords.com.hk
" is available!!! And so since we're so damn proud to be from Hong
Kong - we thought adding the ".hk" was a great idea!!!
So here it is - we're back up...please help us update all your links

First of all:
The Start From Scratch Records label has started distributing some

was a distant cousin of your mother's step dad's second

bands from all over China!!! Our very own King Ly Chee is on this

July 29, 2007: Yo yo yo...our bands Embryo and Shepherds the
Weak are both back from successful tours! Shepherds the Weak in
particular have come back with a new found spirit of wanting to
resurrect the old united atmosphere of the HK underground
community...so let's what they're going to do about it! :-)
Embryo are already scheduled to play in Guangzhou near the end of

好久不見!!!
Well lots of good things have been happening for our bands!!
First of all, King Ly Chee completed an incredibly successful
Asian tour supporting NOFX on their recent Asian tour. The tour went
through Beijing, Taipei, Manila, Kuala Lumpur, Singapore, Jakarta,
and Bali.
In support of this amazing tour -
King Ly Chee will be uploading a music video for the song Unite
Asia that includes footage from all these places!!! It's an
amazing video and really shows the power, spirit and passion of the
Asian underground!!! WE WILL RISE!!! Please check out the preview

Next -
Our favorite mosh-tastic band Embryo is embarking on their
very first tour!!! They will be touring with our pals in Die in
Velvet. The tour will take them through all the major cities in

February 19, 2007: KUNG HEI FAT CHOI!!!
This year is going to be an awesome year for
Start From Scratch and all our bands that's for sure!!! We already
have great news - our brother Wah recorded the show and he just sent
me some of the recordings from the show.........and it's
SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO good!!! We might actually be able to release
this on CD!!! So right now Wah is going to mix down all the rest of
the songs and then we'll hand it over to the bands and they can
decide which one or two songs they want to release!!! And then we'll
release this as the first official SFS Records release!!!

February 13, 2007: Dude!!! What an awesome show we had for our very
FIRST Start From Scratch Records show!! Thanks so much for coming
out and making it such a special night! We are SO happy that you
guys/girls enjoyed and appreciated the effort we put in getting
GREAT sound for the show! It has been a dream for us to finally put
on a GOOD sounding show at the Warehouse - which is known for not
having great sound at all... So thanks everyone again for supporting us and more importantly,
supporting our bands! We have been in discussions with another HK
band that will be joining SFS Records soon! We are so excited to
have this band join us because they're hard working, nice guys and

January 27, 2007 Hello there! Okay - so until we get someone to really make this
website properly...I'm just going to use my Frontpage expertise
(NOT!) and update this site through this. So all the links may not
work properly but we'll try to see what happens...
First off, our band Engrave Thy Heart rocked hard last night at the
Warehouse and want to thank the organizers for inviting them!!!
Next off, Start From Scratch is coming back in a "zine" form! I'm in
the process of putting it all together and will be available at our
first show!
